Started in 2003, La Salle Academy (LSA) is a small, independent, Catholic grade school, educating children grades
3rd through 8th, that exclusively serves children from low-income families from across Philadelphia. Run in the
tradition of the Christian Brothers and the Sisters of St. Joseph, La Salle is a San Miguel model school dedicated
to achieving children’s success academically and spiritually in a supportive, faith-based learning environment.

We are now seeking a part-time Art Teacher (16 hours or 2 days/week) to join our team and support our
school’s mission. LSA is an equal opportunity employer.
Responsibilities
The LSA Part-time Art Teacher has a unique opportunity to teach children of diverse cultural backgrounds in a
supportive environment. The position includes LSA’s extended school year through the end of July. The Art
Teacher provides art instruction following the Archdiocese of Philadelphia standards to each class of students 3rd
through 8th grade with a maximum of 15 students/grade. The Art Teacher is expected to collaborate with
teachers to integrate art into the overall curriculum. The Art teacher also works with LSA Advancement to
promote events showcasing students’ artwork. LSA has a dedicated art room with materials and supplies. The
Art Teacher promotes student artwork at designated locations around the school through the course of the
school year. The Art Teacher fosters a classroom environment where students feel safe, encouraged, and able to
express their creativity.
Qualifications and Skills:
• Bachelor of Arts required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of classroom management skills.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized art room.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
• Experience in elementary school art preferred.
• All required criminal background checks, including but not limited to PA State Police Clearance, Child Abuse Clearance and FBI Clearance.
