Derek Rodriguez started at La Salle Academy in 2003 and was a part of LSA’s first graduating class in 2008. He credits LSA for preparing him for Mercy Career & Technical High School, of which he graduated in 2012. After high school, Mr. Rodriguez attended Eastern University earning an Associates and Bachelors Degrees in Education. He is now an educator at Esperanza Cyber Charter School. Due to his teaching experience, Mr. Rodriguez was recently asked to sub for the 3rd grade in LSA’s 2024 Extended Year Program.

“My experience in teaching 3rd grade during LSA’s Extended Year summer session was a complete full circle experience for me,” Mr. Rodriguez says. “I enjoyed returning to a special place that provided tools for me to pay it forward. The students were amazing and well mannered. I can tell that the 3rd grade teacher, Ms. Schwartz, worked very hard.”

In addition to the “full circle” moment Mr. Rodriguez described, he now serves as a member of our Board of Trustees here at LSA! 

Reflecting on his time subbing for LSA, Mr. Rodriguez says, “La Salle Academy continues to provide the best opportunities for students. La Salle Academy is a wonderful place.”
